ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the importance of logistics as an essential part of competitiveness in the top 10 economies of Latin America. The problem considered is to discover if there exists a new approach to analyzing the published data and if it could provide a new perspective under a new methodological proposal for the Logistics Performance Index and Customs variables. The link between competition and logistics in a global economy is critical for countries to connect with global trade and achieve the benefits of globalization. The successful integration of global logistics begins with the ability to move goods across borders rapidly, reliably, and cheaply. The logistics concept has undergone significant changes over the years and it has evolved through several stages.
