ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to analyze the college choice of students in the Faculty of Islamic Studies at the Islamic University of Indonesia for the academic years 2012/2013-2014/2015. For Indonesian case studies, research has been focused on the factors driving university choice and the important factors in students' choice of private universities. The research analyzes students' decision to choose the faculty in terms of time and other motivating factors. The faculty's standing as part of the Islamic University of Indonesia, which has been institutionallv accredited 'A', was viewed as the most important factor. Students of the Faculty of Islamic Studies have a traditionally strong basis in Islamic boarding schools. For most of the students the Faculty of Islamic Studies was not their initial target of higher education, but many factors regarding both the university and department led them to the decision to join the faculty.
