The education revolution
To thrive, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation suggests children need to learn in and out of school, in person and online, together and independently. They need learning experiences that meet them wherever they are. Eleven out of the 20 fastest growing occupations need a degree level qualification. Only one of the fastest declining occupations needs the same. Education has never been more important; high performance is important to personal fulfilment. Humans take longer to become independent than any other species on the planet. Countries that focus on expecting high academic achievement for all seem to avoid the long tail of underachievement which is a chronic problem in the UK. Children can begin to understand that effort on their part can bring substantial rewards. Their future is in their hands. Intelligence is typically defined by academics in terms of a person's ability to adapt to the environment and to learn from experience.
