ABSTRACT

In this chapter, I discuss the largely inverse relationship between wise leadership and toxic leadership. I argue that toxic leadership is not only common but on the increase around the world. I suggest that a wise leader brings out the best in others; an unwise leader does not; and a toxic individual brings out the worst in people. I further discuss foolish leadership and how it differs from wise leadership. I conclude that people need to pay far more attention to wisdom in choosing their leaders.
