ABSTRACT
We live in a world of vision, but there was a time long ago when it was the voice that prevailed. The word was supreme and dominated the world. Communication was vocal, and commands and laws were issued orally. Even the gods spoke to men, often without showing themselves. The Ten Commandments were dictated to Moses, who recorded them up on the stone tables on Mount Sinai: God spoke, but did not write.
