ABSTRACT

This purpose of this chapter is to provide an illustration of how SNA can be used in project management research. As a knowledge-based discipline, project management is driven by interactions between individuals. SNA can help understand the nature of these interactions and their effect on project success. While it can be used in conjunction with other methodologies, SNA is of particular value when seeking to evaluate complex outcomes such as stakeholder benefits. Using an example of a programme aimed to generate social benefits, this chapter presents an approach for PM students to begin exploring SNA using data available from online social networks.
