ABSTRACT

Roland Burkart is associate professor at the University of Vienna, Austria (PhD, 1976), postdoctoral lecture qualification (“Habilitation”) 1984, honorary doctor’s degree, awarded by the University of Sofia, Bulgaria, 2003. Among German-speaking scholars he is well known as the author of Communication Science: Principles and problem areas (“Kommunikationswissenschaft. Grundlagen und Problemfelder”), 4th ed. 2002 and as the originator of the concept of “consensus-oriented public relations”. His teaching and research interests are dealing with communication theory, mass media effects, public relations and political communication (election campaign discourses).
