ABSTRACT
Hydraulic machinery is an important engineering application of the material we have covered in earlier chapters. In studying the behavior of hydraulic machines, we first present the suitable dimensionless parameters needed to describe the machines, and select those suitable for a given application. Descriptions of several types of pumps are then presented, along with a discussion of turbines used for electric power generation. Other issues involved in the design of a pumping system are discussed in Appendix G.
