ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the effects of various waves excited in a thin, warm magnetoplasma slab when an x-polarized electromagnetic wave in free space is normally incident on it. A static magnetic field in y direction perpendicular to the plane of incidence excites in the warm plasma complicated extraordinary waves with a component of the electric field in the direction of propagation. Coupling of electromagnetic waves with electron plasma waves, its consequences, and applications are explored. A few illustrative results are given.
