ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we look at the relationship between romantic love and morality. We start with some general considerations about love and morality, and then move to the question of whether and how the three main moral theories—consequentialism, Kantian ethics, and virtue ethics—permit or justify romantic love. In the final section, we discuss how the actions, desires, and beliefs of romantic love are subject to various moral restrictions.
