ABSTRACT

Suppose we apply this idea to the heights of all female students in their first year at a university in the U.K. In the histogram the number of students in each group would now be much greater, so we could afford to have many more than six groups, and still have a fairly large number of students in each group. The histogram would look something like Fig. 7.2, where the vertical sides of the rectangles have been omitted and the tops of the rectangles have been smoothed into a curve.
