ABSTRACT
Strain sensing (related to stress sensing, but distinct from damage sensing) is relevant to structural vibration control, traffic monitoring and weighing (e.g., (i) the weighing of trucks that are moving, (ii) the weighing of all the people in each room of a building for the purpose of room occupancy monitoring and the use of the information for controlling lighting, ventilation, air-conditioning and heating (i.e., for energy saving), (iii) the detection of people inside or outside a building for enhancing building security, and (iv) the weighing of cargo).
