ABSTRACT

There are three lessons to be learned from the feasibility study. The first of these is that engineer start with state-of-the-art designs and determine if reasonable improvements will meet the objectives. The second lesson is that, if the study is done correctly, it will indicate the changes that must be made. The third lesson is that the students did not do an adequate search of the technical literature. A cash flow diagram is a pictorial way of showing the effects of various economic plans. In these diagrams, time is shown on the horizontal axis, increasing to the right. The convention previously mentioned as to the time of transactions is used, again requiring the use of a zero period to identify the start of the process. Every tangible item used in a business has a limited useful life. The tangible item may be a building, a lathe, a computer, office furniture, and so forth.
