ABSTRACT

In Chapters 9 to 11 we saw how CD systems work. One of the subjects this included was the use of multi-bit digital-to-analog convertors (DACs) to turn the digital values back into an analog waveform. For various practical reasons it's difficult to make accurate multi-bit DACs. Figure 22.1a illustrates a system which takes an input voltage, converts it to an n-bit digital value, and then turns that value back into an output voltage. This represents a sort of 'minimal' digital information commnnicati.on system.
