ABSTRACT

Emission inventories are an important facet of A Q M . They identity and quantity emission sources over small or large areas such as an industrial site or for a complete local authority area. Determination of the character of pollutant emission sources (e.g. the nature of the pollutant; emission rate; gas efflux velocity; gas efflux temperature; source morphology, etc.) can aid the quantification of the source's significance and level of potential impact. Inventories can also help to refine air quality monitoring strategies, assess trends in air quality and help identify pollutant sources that may need emission control.
