ABSTRACT
The following case studies incorporate and demonstrate key elements of A Q A and management that have been detailed in the proceeding chapters of this book. The following case studies are detailed:
• Stirling Council, Scotland - screening air quality monitoring study. The study demonstrates screening baseline air quality monitoring techniques for S 0 2 , N 0 2 and P M 1 0 ;
• Indoor air quality health assessment. The study outlines an air quality monitoring study to determine CO levels in an indoor environment, a health assessment and the remediation techniques to rectify the problem are given;
• Falkirk Council, Scotland - emission inventory. The study outlines the methodology used to undertake an inventory of atmospheric emissions from point, area and line sources within a Local Authority area;
• Belfast, Northern Ireland - baseline air quality monitoring study. The case study details a baseline air quality data assessment and rationale for a baseline monitoring study;
• Newton Stewart, Scotland - air dispersion modelling study. The case study details an air dispersion modelling study of emissions from a proposed incinerator and outlines a stack height optimising study;
• Hong Kong, People's Republic of China - quantitative health risk assessment. A QRA study is presented on emissions from a proposed energy from waste facility;
• Falkirk Council, Scotland - A Q M . The case study details the air dispersion modelling studies and the procedures adopted to undertake an A Q M study for a Local Authority;
• Ayrshire, Scotland - emission control. The study details the emission control procedures adopted for the control of VOCs from an industrial facility;
• Spireslack OCCS, Ayrshire, Scotland - dust assessment. The case study demonstrates the techniques available to assess potential dust impacts from a proposed OCCS.
