ABSTRACT
Mercury behaves rather differently, as indicated in Fig. 2.3(b). Since the forces of cohesion are greater than the forces of adhesion, the angle of contact is larger, and the meniscus has a convex face to the atmosphere and is depressed. The pressure adjacent to the free surface is greater than atmospheric.
