ABSTRACT

The first point in a statistical analysis is to specify a useful statistical model for the actual data. This is sometimes difficult but it is always crucial. Once the model has been chosen, the ensuing statistical inference will often be given. Several issues have to be considered, such as, the way the data has been collected, information about the scientific problem the data should elucidate and experiences, which can be personal or obtained by studies of literature, concerning analyses of similar problems.
