ABSTRACT
To test the principle that all bodies fall with equal acceleration under gravity (the universality of free-fall) Galileo is supposed to have dropped weights from the tower of Piza. In order to test whether this is a realistic experiment a lead musket ball (mass 50g) and a lead cannon ball (mass 10 kg) are released simultaneously from the top of the 50 m high tower of the Leicester University Engineering Building, a well-known landmark in central England. The under-surfaces of the balls are equidistant from the ground at release.
