ABSTRACT
The use of fuzzy logic-based inference techniques in control problems has motivated one of the main application fields for fuzzy systems. As discussed in Chapter 1, this is mainly due to two reasons: on the one hand, the capability of fuzzy logic to express the knowledge of an expert operator using simple natural language rules; on the other hand, the fact that using fuzzy logic it is not nec essary to have an analytical model of the system to be controlled.
