This and the following two chapters cover the method and planning aspects related to the structural elements likely to be used in relation to the following types of buildings:
• Industrial and commercial; • Service industries-schools, hospitals, hotels
and so on; • Accommodation - apartments, hostels, but
Structural solutions for these will normally adopt one of three approaches: in-situ concrete framing, pre-cast concrete frames or structural steel frames. In the pre-cast concrete solution, the method may also include external structural elements which are also part of the building cladding.
