ABSTRACT

This chapter presents an analysis of variance on the data collected from the wave solder experiment. The emphasis in design of experiments is to put considerable effort into designing and setting up the experiment, in order to be efficient in the costly enterprise of building and processing samples. After the data from a properly designed experiment are collected, it is not unusual to discover information that was not previously expected. As they obtain experience, experimenters develop instincts for planning experiments which yield significant data well beyond that which was planned, and which is useful to other individuals and other departments. In the author's experience, it is possible to design and conduct experiments which will provide useful data for months and even years of future investigation.
