ABSTRACT
Automotive technologies have always been at the forefront of mechatronics with features such as engine management systems, traction control, automatic braking systems, active suspension, intelligent four-wheel drive and environ mental controls now available on many vehicles. Referring to Fig. 11.1, features that are likely to be included in the near future include collision avoidance sys tems, drive-by-wire, lane following and route control.
