ABSTRACT
Composite¥oorsystemsareformedbyconnecting¥oorslabstothetop¥angesof structural steelbeams,girdersortrussesusingmechanicalshearconnectors.Theconcrete¥oorslab canbeaconventionalreinforcedconcreteslaboracompositeslabwithproŠledsteelsheetingsupportingtheconcrete.Compositeslabshavebeenwidelyusedinmultistoreycompositebuildingsinmanycountries.Thiscompositeslabsystemutilisesthebestload-resisting characteristicsofsteelandconcretematerials.Structuralsteelhasthepropertiesofhigh strength,highductilityandhighspeedoferection,whilestructuralconcretehasthepropertiesofexcellentŠreresistance,inherentmassandlowmaterialcost.Compositeslabscanbe designed as either simply supported one-way slabs or continuous slabs.
