ABSTRACT

This chapter consists of relatively deta i led sections connected with pro jects requir ing one or more computer runs of a few tens or hundreds of t ime steps. I n sections where computer s imulations are to be done us ing ES 1 , we put project in the sect ion heading. These sections have detai ls on to how to do the s imulat ion, what to observe , and what to calculate in order to help explain what i s observed. The work assigned or impl ied varies from triv ia l to difficult . S tudents benefit from doing these projects and wri t ing them up in a format which includes statement of the problem, theory or analysis , choice of parameters, s imulat ion results , and comparison with theory.
