ABSTRACT

This chapter provides some information on educational testing. The assessment may consist of various tests such as standardized intelligence and/or achievement tests and may be a necessary step toward deciding if the child's educational performance is being adversely affected by Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (CFIDS). The child may have been given a group test in the past and now be required to take an individual evaluation as a part of assessing his or her need for further academic services. The education evaluator will determine if one or both tests are necessary to fully assess the child's need for further academic services. The test enables the evaluator to determine the student's IQ, or intelligence quotient. Intelligence tests do not measure all areas that affect intelligence. The evaluation should be given in a room that is free of outside stimuli so that the Young Person with CFIDS is less likely to be distracted.
