ABSTRACT

NO AMOUNT OF COMPUTING power, it seems, is enough. Computers become more powerful each year, but that doesn’t mean we need fewer of them. On the contrary, the more computing resources that are available, the more we seem to need. Each increase in power lets us do new things that were previously impractical, and there always seem to be really neat applications that are just waiting for the next ten-fold increase in computer speed or ten-fold decrease in computer cost.
