ABSTRACT

The Talking Book is able to store, is a function of the audio storage device. As will be discussed later, the audio storage device we have selected is the ISD 4004. This device is capable of storage up to 8 minutes of audio, when sampled at 8 kHz. While working with books for the age six-and-under target market (low density of words per page and small number of total pages), eight minutes of audio is sufficient. However, 8 minutes of audio is unacceptable in older target markets, where books will be significantly longer and will have a higher density of words per page. This problem is easily solved by the addition of a second, or even third, ISD 4004 device; these devices can be connected serially so that additional audio can be stored.
