Let M be a regular surface in ℝ3 and let W⊆M be the image of a regular patch on which a unit normal U is defined and differentiable. Denote by k 1 and k 2 the principal curvatures of M with respect to U, and suppose that they are ordered so that k 1 ≥ k 2 on W.
