ABSTRACT
The practice of grit removal in the treatment train for waste water has become almost universal in recent years. The purpose is to protect pumps and other metal surfaces from an excessive rate of abrasion wear and to prevent nuisance conditions caused by grit accumulations in digestors and in dead zones of pipelines and channels.
