ABSTRACT
This chapter describes how Marston Middle School is attempting to deal with the problem of bullying, in the hope that this may be useful to other schools and individuals. The bullying group decided to invite the Neti-Neti Theatre Company to visit the school to perform their play Only Playing Miss. In March 1990 the bullying group met again to review the PSE lessons and decided that they had been successful in raising awareness of the issues. Staff were asked to remind pupils that all bullying incidents must be reported and to be particularly vigilant about the times and places in which, according to the questionnaire results, most bullying was taking place. Members of the school – staff and pupils – feel that there is much less bullying than there used to be and that the quality of relationships in the school is now much better.
