ABSTRACT

Chapter 9 summarizes and extends many of the themes of earlier chapters. Subjects include interaction between music and words, the live and mediated sound of the human voice and its embodiment in performance, visual aspects of performance that a composer might envisage working with, how audiences hear and more aspects of voices ascribed male or female. An overview of the lyric form of song and its structure is also offered. It proposes different levels of synthesis and meaning between words and music.
