ABSTRACT

Artistic mood is formed by a fusion of the creator's subjective feelings and the reflection of objective things in a way that enables the reader to enter deeply into the writer's conceptual world. The formation of artistic mood, which relies on a fusion of the writer's subjective feelings and the reflection of objective things, comes about either by feelings changing with concrete circumstances, feelings projected onto reality or the closest attention to the way things are. The artistic mood in shi and ci poems is particularly fresh and inspirational. There are some lyrical essays in praise of scenery and some parallel prose works which also have the artistic mood of poetry. As Chinese literary creation emphasizes artistic mood, so must literary appreciation strive to perceive and enter this artistic mood. The performance of Chinese opera has a strongly suppositional character.
