ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author reviews the basic and advanced techniques and use of career interest inventories along with personality profiles to aid career counseling. This chapter addresses the MBTI and Holland’s SDS while focusing specifically on the use of such assessment results in the counseling process. Through a case analysis example, the author walks the reader through a portion of a counseling session showing how to help a client make meaning from the results and use assessment data to inform career decision-making.
