ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author reviews numerous assessments used in the process of substance abuse and addiction treatment. Theoretical information about the use of such instruments is covered. Further, the author describes the use of assessments across a variety of drugs/substances, differentiating between and among the effective use of different assessments. Using a case format, the author provides a detailed description of assessment results associated with a clinical perspective. Through this lens, the chapter addresses how to incorporate results into a treatment plan and the counseling process.
