ABSTRACT
The laws of thermodynamics enunciate the constraints imposed by nature on any process that involves energy, and its conversion from one form to another. Therefore, these laws allow estimating the efficiency of various energy conversion processes and involve devices such as a boiler, steam turbine, condenser, internal combustion engine, and gas turbine. Knowledge of thermodynamics is essential for the design and operation of all these devices as well as for predicting their performance.
