ABSTRACT

The author began his journey at State University of New York (SUNY) Buffalo State College in August of 2012 as a first-year freshman. The learning community program consisted of five classes themed to the community. The Community of Student Investigators was the learning community suggested by the letter. After thinking and researching the learning community for a few days, he ultimately chose to enroll in the Community of Student Investigators (CSI) learning community. His orientation group consisted of all the other students from the CSI learning community, and their orientation leader was a former student of the community. On the second day of orientation, he met with the faculty of his learning community along with the other learning community groups. Classes began with an introduction to the academic and college environment. At the end of the semester, all of the learning communities participated in the learning community Symposium.
