ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on strategies that the children can use when preparing and revising for tests. A step-by-step revision strategy can be used to revise any topic. There are three basic learning styles – visual, auditory and kinaesthetic – and that using a multi-sensory approach assists children's learning. There are various strategies that child can adopt when revising and trying to memorise facts for tests. On their own, studying the given list of memory tips and picking out the tips he/she think are the most useful. Then each makes a memory plan to help him/her to remember what he/she needs to know for a test. Having a revision buddy can help him/her in a number of ways. They can test each other, compare notes on particular topics and practice explaining things to one another. One way of helping himself/herself to remember key facts is to prepare a test himself/herself quiz to give to a revision buddy.
