ABSTRACT

The development of good study skills is an essential part of every child's education, enabling them to progress from primary school, through secondary school to further and higher education. It develops the thinking skills that are embedded in the National Curriculum and that they will continue to develop as they progress through secondary school. The assessment sheets are designed to make the children aware of the skills that they have developed and to set themselves targets for the future. Children who have been taught how to plan investigations and projects, who know how to research information from texts and from the internet and to collect data through surveys and observations will be able to tackle problems effectively. The practice they have had in presenting their findings both orally and in writing will enable them to report their conclusions confidently.
