ABSTRACT

This chapter helps the reader to develop computer skills. To find out information from the internet, children have to use a search engine, such as Google. They need to think carefully about the keywords that they enter. The keywords need to be as precise as possible, otherwise search will produce irrelevant information. If children have chosen their keywords carefully, the top links are the ones that are most likely to contain the information they are looking for. The chapter explains how information can be obtained on many topics from apps that are available for iPads. Teachers should encourage the children to do an internet search on a topic such as the ancient Olympic Games or Egyptian writing and to report to the rest of the class which sites they found the most useful. The chapter also explains how to make folders on computer.
