Organisational skills – time management and teamwork
This chapter consists of activities that involve the children in thinking about their homework habits and how they manage their time. It also contains a number of activities and challenges that are designed to develop teamworking skills. It is important for them to plan how they spend their leisure time so that they develop good homework habits. The children are encouraged to carry out a review of how they spend their time after school in order to find out if they are using it efficiently. The chapter includes an activity to make a chart for children activities. Children need to include their activities, such as playing computer games, and watching TV and playing outside. Once they have identified any time-wasting events, they need to think of a plan of action that will enable them to eliminate them in the future. For example, they may have to limit the time they spend texting their friends, watching TV or playing computer games.
