ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the application of data-driven analytics in Carbon dioxide (CO2) storage in a depleted gas reservoir. It summarizes the development of smart proxy modeling for the Otway project and presents the results that have been achieved. The smart proxy in this project is referred to as the surrogate reservoir model (SRM). The chapter includes building a numerical reservoir simulation model and history matching it using the available dynamic data from the field. The rest of the workflow will use this history-matched numerical reservoir simulation model for its purposes. The main project included a system model with multiple components. The system model's intention was to examine the impact of different scenarios on the overall objectives of CO2 injection into this depleted gas reservoir. Components of the main projects included a pipeline delivery model, a subsurface model, a wellbore model, a surface facility model, and an economical calculation model.
