ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book deals with the development of an approach within various services, including a therapy manual, personal account of service development and serious theory and evaluation data. It offers a practical approach to embedding this vision within real services, such as are found within the British National Health Service, so that it is available where people end up to seek for help when life becomes unbearable. Certain characteristics of Comprehend, Cope and Connect (CCC) stand out wherever and however it is applied – namely, flexibility, simplicity and challenge. Its flexibility allows for its relevance to both individual and systemic working, along with the extra power derived from combining these. The challenge is that it means really meeting the individual, meeting their situation as it feels for them and meeting their pain.
