ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book provides the relationship between religion and politics in the modern world, where there is a clear lacuna of knowledge. It analyses the largely under-researched phenomenon of political Catholicism, providing a more robust conceptualisation of the phenomenon than those developed by scholars so far. The book also presents a concise definition of political Catholicism and identifies a set of primary and secondary features of this movement. It focuses on the Eurosceptic stance of Polish political Catholicism. The book aims to understand why a movement, which typically was a driving force behind European integration and felt at ease with supranational authority, adopted a Eurosceptic position in Poland. It examines a concise comparative overview of political Catholicism and its attitudes towards European integration across Europe.
