ABSTRACT

Life on the Earth requires continuous supply of energy. Nowadays, our civilization consumes mainly fossil fuel resources that are being rapidly depleted. Simultaneously, according to mainstream opinion CO2 emission causes unfavorable climatic changes. However, not all scholars share this view. For instance, Lidzen (Lindzen 2010) does not question the essence of greenhouse effect itself, but believes that the forecast changes will be far milder. The idea of sustainable development, formulated in 1987 (Brundland et al. 1987) can be used to integrate all areas of human activity.
