ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses how to adopt a more inclusive approach to communication. The Internet and modern technology of today make it is possible to work with anyone anywhere in the world. In schools, the model is still fairly reliant on students being physically present in a classroom, so the 'anywhere in the world' scenario is not a reality just yet, although some schools do operate virtually already. An easy way to ensure that audience is more likely to understand message is to write it down and send it to them in advance. Language is often the first barrier when considering inclusive communication. Even for those who speak the same language, there are often communication issues that stem from the misunderstanding of terms and phrases. There are online tools and apps, such as Culture Wizard's cross-cultural training, to help school leaders to understand how to communicate more inclusively with other cultures.
