ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a comprehensive list of ways in which to measure communication effectiveness against school leader's school vision. Measuring progress gives them and their team encouragement that they are on the right path, even if it feels difficult and frustrating at times. It also gives then some evidence of success that they can share if challenged about what they are doing. Some people take the approach of a moment in time 'snapshot' survey, such as a big annual survey. This is time consuming and may result in lots of actions that school leaders cannot realistically deliver. Instead, measure continually using a variety of methods and make small changes along the way. They can measure formally and informally, and focus on both quantitative and qualitative elements. The best approach is to mix these using some of the following methods: survey, focus group, online poll, parent champions, open Q&A session, and social media.
