ABSTRACT
Taking a risk by sharing a painful story with a close friend can be scary and difficult. Taking a risk by sharing a painful story that you know will be published shows an enormous amount of courage and generosity. This chapter is a brief glimpse of the brave participants in my research. Each line gives the reader a highlight of a life experience and insight into the person-of-the-therapist who experienced struggles with partners and ultimately failed relationships. As we move forward in the journey, the reader will gain more insight into how the life experiences of each participant have impacted their work with clients.
