We advocate often in this book for having policies— late work ∗ policy, attendance ∗ policy, etc. There are some principles and pitfalls here, however, that you should be aware of. First, though, we should share our definition of a policy. In your courses, a “policy” sets forth the way you will view and act on certain instructor and/or student behaviors.
