ABSTRACT

The illusion of depth can lend a sense of three dimensions to two-dimensional media. Perspective, placement, lens choice, and implied movement can create the appearance of depth. Movement can be implied within a still frame. In moving pictures, the camera or talent can move, and movement can be implied through editing. Time in media can be frozen, as in a still image. Time in moving picture can be real, the illusion of real, compressed, or ignored.
